Few things are more satisfying than a crystal-clear shower door—but keeping it that way? That’s another story. Soap scum, hard water spots, and streaks can make even the cleanest bathroom feel a little... cloudy.
At Mops and Muscles, we’re big fans of keeping things simple and sparkling. So we’ve rounded up our favorite shower glass cleaning tips to help you beat the buildup and get your shine back.
Step 1: Shower Glass Cleaning Starts with Daily Prevention
The best way to win at shower glass cleaning is to stop the buildup before it starts. A quick daily wipe-down with a squeegee or microfiber cloth after your shower can make a huge difference. It only takes 30 seconds, and it’ll save you serious scrubbing later.
Want to go the extra mile? Keep a spray bottle of 50/50 vinegar and water in your shower and mist the glass every couple of days.
Step 2: Time for a Deep Clean? Here’s How to Do It Right
When your glass is already cloudy or streaked, you’ll need more than a wipe. Here’s how we tackle it at Mops and Muscles:
Start with a dry surface so your cleaner can stick.
Spray vinegar or a commercial glass-safe cleaner generously over the glass.
Let it sit for 5–10 minutes to break down the gunk.
Use a non-scratch scrub sponge or microfiber cloth to gently buff the surface.
Rinse well with warm water, then dry with a clean microfiber cloth to avoid streaks.

Step 3: Hard Water Spots? No Problem.
Hard water spots are stubborn, but they’re not unbeatable. If vinegar isn’t cutting it, sprinkle a little baking soda on a damp sponge and scrub gently. The fizzing reaction helps loosen mineral deposits without damaging your glass.
Still stuck? We love using a paste of baking soda and lemon juice—natural, effective, and it smells amazing.
Step 4: The Best Cloths for Shower Glass Cleaning (Hint: Not Paper Towels)
One of the most common shower glass cleaning mistakes? Using paper towels. They leave behind lint, don’t absorb well, and can actually create more streaks. Stick with microfiber cloths—they’re the secret weapon of every pro cleaner (including us).
Step 5: Prevention = Less Work Later
Once your glass is clean, make it easier to keep it that way. Here’s how:
Squeegee daily—yes, again!
Apply a glass protectant spray once a month to repel water and soap scum.
Use liquid body wash instead of bar soap to reduce residue.
Keep ventilation high to reduce moisture buildup (open a window or run a fan).
